On August 6, 2026, at 7:00 PM, Alexandru Anghel, in collaboration with the Maps Museum, launches “A NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM – GARDEN CINEMA.”

The event offers a relaxed evening in the museum’s garden, featuring an open-air film screening preceded by an introduction from a film critic. Through a carefully curated selection of films and an atmosphere inspired by Europe’s iconic open-air cinemas, the project aims to transform each screening into more than just watching a film—it becomes a gathering centered around culture.

Join us for an Italian summer evening in the heart of Bucharest. The first screening will feature Paolo Sorrentino’s Parthenope (2024), introduced by George Mihalcea.

We look forward to welcoming you to the Maps Museum garden, where you’ll enjoy film-inspired cocktails, freshly made popcorn prepared in a vintage popcorn machine, and comfortable deck chairs that will transport you, for one evening, to the shores of the Gulf of Naples.

Parthenope is Paolo Sorrentino’s love letter to his hometown, Naples—a cinematic poem about beauty, youth, and the passage of time. Following the life of a woman who bears the city’s mythical name, the film spans decades of love, loss, and rediscovery in a tender meditation on freedom, identity, and the subtle ways life changes us without warning. About the Film

Parthenope (2024) is a drama written, produced, and directed by Paolo Sorrentino. An international co-production between Italy and France, the film stars Celeste Dalla Porta, Stefania Sandrelli, Gary Oldman, Silvio Orlando, Luisa Ranieri, Peppe Lanzetta, and Isabella Ferrari. It was selected to compete for the Palme d’Or at the 77th Cannes Film Festival, where it premiered on May 21, 2024. The film was released in Italian cinemas by PiperFilm on October 24, 2024, and received mixed reviews from critics.

Alexandru Anghel is a journalist, television presenter, and curator of cultural events with more than a decade of experience in the media and music industries. Passionate about cinema and Mediterranean culture, he is the creator of A Night at the Museum – Garden Cinema at the Maps Museum, a project that revives the charm of classic open-air cinemas in one of Bucharest’s most beautiful cultural venues. Alexandru currently works as a television presenter at Aleph News and serves as Music Director and Manager of Smart Radio, where he is actively involved in projects promoting music, cinema, and Romania’s creative industries.
